In just 4 weeks time, the Women’s Rugby World Cup will arrive in Ireland, one of the biggest tournaments the country has ever hosted. The Irish team is nicely positioned – not outright favourites, but dark horses, and the group stages are already a complete sell-out. Plus, they have the sweet sweet memories from the last World Cup to reflect on.

Jenny Murphy and Ailis Egan tell us about the all-consuming nature of their preparations, how pre-tournament commitments can actually help energise the team, and how this group of players – already such wonderful ambassadors for women’s sport in this country – can take another big step in this tournament.

Elsewhere Eoin McDevitt opens us about his flaws and vulnerabilities as a (bald) broadcaster, we discuss what made Simon leave his berth at the pec deck in the gym last night, how lazy Rafa Nadal is, whimsical inanity, and we use the phrase ‘minor physical interference’ another couple of dozen times.
