Ken joins us live from the stadium in St Petersburg after Brazil’s dramatic late win over Costa Rica. Neymar blubbered once again; the World Cup is weighing heavily on them once again; is the 7-1 scar tissue still there?

We presaged it on yesterday’s show, but the full extent of Argentina’s fall from grace was made all too clear last night. We react to their stunning 3-0 loss to Croatia, which leaves Lionel Messi’s involvement in the tournament now hanging by a thread.

We also talk to Hajo Seppelt, the German TV journalist who uncovered the Russian state-sponsored doping at the Sochi Olympics in 2014, who wanted to go to Russia for the World Cup, but whose safety couldn’t be guaranteed while in the country.

Plus there’s Frances Murphy’s guide to the sporting weekend, Jose and Martin O’Neill’s punditry weirdness, some UNHCR Fair Play Cup cockiness, and the geopolitical game of the tournament that Eoin completely missed.
