Here’s a bonus Second Captains May Bank Holiday special for you. This morning, we guest presented and produced The Ryan Tubridy Show on RTÉ Radio 1 and had the pleasure of interviewing two heroes.

Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to officially complete the world-renowned Boston marathon back in 1967, despite the best efforts of the race director who stormed onto the course and tried to physically rip her bib number off. She took that experience and dedicated herself to empowering women around the world through running and just this month, 50 years on, she completed the Boston marathon once again.

Plus, on this May Bank Holiday Monday, 20 years ago, Ken Doherty was busy carving out one of the most popular victories in Irish sporting history by winning the World Snooker Championship. 20 years on, he’s back at the scene of his triumph, the Crucible Theatre, working for the BBC at this year’s final and he joined us from Sheffield for an emotional chat.

Plus there’s amazing music from Blur, Richard Hawley, James Vincent McMorrow and T. Rex, and we discuss Ja Rule’s apology, President Zuckerberg and making holiday friends.
