So… how many Second Captains World Service members are taking part in Veganuary this month? Vegetarianism and veganism are having a bit of a moment right now, and this week a report from the Lancet magazine caused waves when it suggested sweeping changes to our western diet.

We speak to Sharon Madigan, Ireland’s leading sports nutritionist, about whether sports people actually need meat to fuel performance, or if they can get all they need from a meat-free diet.

An Irish out-half has scored over 2,300 points in professional rugby, he kicked the points that won his club the Premiership final and is a leader with the best run club in England… Gareth Steenson is the best least known Irish rugby player in the world. We speak to the him about the journey from the lower regions of English rugby to winning the title, to Exeter’s pivotal match against Munster this weekend.

Plus we decide getting dietary advice from Leo Varadkar and Danny Healy Rae is a sub-optimal use of our time, we have Frances Murphy’s GAA-heavy TV guide to the weekend, Irish golador news, and Eddie Jones targets Ireland.
