It’s a dramatic day on the Second Captains world service – there are goodbyes, welcome returns, and unexplained disappearances.

The first week of December usually means US Murph is about to touch down in Dublin and join us for our Gang’s All Here live shows, and while that wasn’t to be this year, the world does at least seem like a far more hopeful place than the last time we spoke to Brian a few weeks ago.

He tells us about the change in mood in the US since the prospect of another four years of Trump dissipated, as well as the increasingly bizarre spectacle that is an NFL season taking place in the midst of soaring numbers of Covid cases, with his beloved 49ers forced to play home games in Arizona and wide receivers forced into playing at quarter-back.

Plus there’s Eoin McDevitt V Peter Collins, Murph’s anxiety dream and the Early family.

Monday’s shows are free to all and Isolating with David O’Doherty is free on Mondays and Thursdays – to listen to our programming throughout the rest of the week, join the Second Captains World Service. It’s independent, commercial-free and member-led with feature interviews, breaking news, Richie Sadlier’s Player’s Chair, The Politics Podcast and lots of added extras.
