Ian Wright is a bona fide Premier League legend but he was 28 before he even joined Arsenal, where just 6 years later he would become their top goalscorer of all time.  He is now one of the game’s best broadcasters, whose ability to talk cogently and passionately about social issues, as well as his tactical acumen and irrepressible sense of fun, set him apart.

We chat to him about Arsenal’s run of form this season, if he thinks they can win the league, the role of the modern striker, and Pep’s love-hate relationship with Haaland.

We also discuss how his childhood in South London shaped him as a footballer, his brief career in light entertainment, how he found his voice as a broadcaster, what it’s like to work with Roy Keane and what he makes of our Evan Ferguson.

Plus there’s Cliff Bastin, Vin Baston, Man United’s late heart-break against Crystal Palace, and what Spurs have left in the tank ahead of their match against Man City tonight.
