Episode 2554: Furlong Out, No Croker For Katie, Six Nations On Netflix, Salty Hoggwatch
There was breaking news from both camps ahead of the Wales – Ireland game and both look like bad news for Andy Farrell. Tadhg Furlong is out with a calf strain and the more attack minded Liam Williams is in for Leigh Halfpenny, who pulled out with a back spasm. We assess the damage.
We chat to Shane Horgan about Stu McCloskey at 12, Gatland’s return, and why this is such a tricky fixture for Ireland. Steffan Thomas of Wales Online tells us how Gatland’s return has been received, why 8 players from the 2012 team are still in the squad and details the fallout from a BBC documentary which includes allegations by the former general manager of Welsh women’s rugby, Charlotte Wathan, among others, of sexism and a toxic culture throughout the Welsh Rugby Union.
Murph delivers an especially salty episode of Hoggwatch.
And with the chances of Katie Taylor fighting in Croke Park receding into the distance, we discuss Eddie Hearn’s recent comments and Croke Park stadium director Peter McKenna’s rebuttal of some of his claims earlier today. Are the mooted Croker costs really that outlandish, and how eager is the GAA to be the first large-scale venue in Dublin to host a boxing event since the Regency shooting?
