Joe Brolly and Dion Fanning are the unlikely podcasting partners that have joined forces to create ‘Free State’, a sprawling new series that looks to cover anything from sport and politics to love, loss and the human condition.

They dropped into studio to chat to us about how the project started, where their opinions converge and diverge, and the importance of seeing through the culture wars.

Plus, is the GAA really Ireland’s insulation from fascism? And why does Joe spend his mornings tweeting when he could simply be knitting?
