’Twas the week before Christmas and all through the Second Captains office not a creature was stirring… with the exception of Murph, Ken and Branno and their inaugural Festive Movie Show.

On the agenda are “The Edge of Everything”, the brilliant Ronnie O’Sullivan documentary on Amazon Prime, and Netflix’s Nyad, which is the true story of marathon swimmer Diana Nyad, whose attempts to swim without a shark cage from Cuba to Florida are documented in this biopic starring Annette Bening as Nyad, and Jodie Foster as her put-upon neighbour and coach, Bonnie.

We also manage to mention Donald Trump, Jeremy Deller, and the incomparable 1981 Istvan Szabo movie Mephisto, which Ken and Murph are still banging on about.

It’s independent, commercial-free and member-led with feature interviews, breaking news, Ken’s Football Show, Richie Sadlier’s Player’s Chair, The Politics Podcast, The “I’ll Tell You Who Wrote It” Book Club and lots of added extras. You’ll also be supporting the development of our longer-form work, like our recent international series  ‘Where Is George Gibney?’.
