It’s rare you feel sorry for Premier League footballers, but Spurs were so thoroughly out matched against Liverpool that even Ken could only but feel sympathy for Ange’s men.

Virgil Van Dijk is playing well this season, no doubt, but are Jamie Carragher and others going a little over the top when saying football is too easy for him? Sure he can shut down Spurs in the League Cup, but how about the rampaging Alexander Isak?

The Ireland team was named this morning, and the big news is Peter O’Mahony starts instead of Ryan Baird. Garry Ringrose makes way for Robbie Henshaw and Sam Prendergast holds off Jack Crowley. We look at the selections, and an emailer questions the Dublin media, and Farrell and Easterby’s, anti Munster bias.

Plus there’s defanged Tom Brady, Eddie Howe’s leadership, and the onslaught of shithousery in English football.
