Four goals, four red cards, a 98th minute equaliser: this is what it’s all about.

What is it about Manchester-born Everton centre-backs with Polish ancestry and thunderous screamers in the Merseyside derby? Tarkowski’s 98th minute equaliser at Goodison was even sweeter than Jagielka’s at Anfield 11 years ago.

It was a night when everyone would have loved to hear the post-match thoughts of Arne Slot, but the Liverpool manager was gagged, his EXPLOSIVE RANT at Michael Oliver earning him a red card and meaning Everton old boy Johnny Heitinga might be coaching Liverpool from the sidelines in their next game.

Author and Evertonian PJ Smith was at Goodison last night and he joins us to reflect on nearly 40 years of going to a stadium which might have seen its last meaningful game.
