The historian David Goldblatt joins us today to talk about his new book – Injury Time: Football In A State Of Emergency. The book tells the story of the UK’s decade of polycrisis through the recent history of the national game.

What does the success story of English football have to tell us about the declinist narrative surrounding Britain? Is the Premier League the last functional bastion of neoliberalism? Has the use of football as a vehicle for political campaigns done more harm than good? Why has the game proved difficult for political actors to exploit – and is it likely to stay that way?
