Episode 3337: GAA And Allianz, Shels And Rovers Into Group Stage, Newcastle’s New Messiah
Last week a letter was delivered to the GAA, signed by around 800 players past and present, calling on the Association to cut ties with Allianz Insurance, one of their longest-running sponsors. Today we talk to two of the signatories of that letter, Dublin’s Davy Byrne, one of the most decorated footballers of all time with 8 All-Ireland medals, and Nodlaig Ni Bhrollaigh, barrister and former Derry footballer.

In June this year a United Nations Report urged corporate entities to – “promptly cease all business activities and terminate relationships directly linked with, contributing to and causing human rights violations and international crimes against the Palestinian people, in accordance with international corporate responsibilities and the law of self-determination.” Allianz Insurance was among a series of companies listed in the report.
This is not business as usual.
My new UN report, From Economy of Occupation to Economy of Genocide, is out today.
It shows how corporations have fueled and legitimised the destruction of Palestine.

We also discuss an incredible night for Irish football last night as Shels and Shamrock Rovers marched into the Europa Conference League group stages where they will face some very tasty opposition.
Shelbourne draw Crystal Palace, Shamrock Rovers get Shakhtar in Uefa Conference League.
The league phase will run from 2 October until 18 December.https://t.co/dpVSoVuOSg
