Episode 3340: Moral Of The Transfer Window, Pep’s Keepers, Knowing Jim Gavin, Ten Hag Sacked
The transfer window is now shut with record breaking deals being made around the UK and Europe. But what is the moral of the Isak/Wissa/Guehi story? Did Palace’s owners save the league? Did Man United use Emi Martinez as a pawn in their transfer masterplan? And with City signing Donnarumma, do we even know Pep anymore?

Jim Gavin is Taoiseach Michéal Martin’s choice to be the Fianna Fáil candidate in the upcoming Presidential election. The appeal from FF’s point of view seems pretty clear-cut (a recognisable, well-respected figure in Irish life)… but why would Gavin want it?

Malachy Clerkin of the Irish Times joins us to talk about the rather joyless, process-driven persona he presented as Dublin manager, and whether that’s going to cut it on the campaign trail. Gavin is a man who likes a frame of reference and a chain of command – will the Presidency give him that, or will he have to reinvent that too. And we ponder how much the FRC’s success will count for at the ballot box.
So Jim Gavin is running for president. What kind of campaign will he run? Whatever it takes to win. https://t.co/EegbQB2fKP
