Arsenal’s victory over Bayern was the statement win of the Champions League night, and yet so many eyes were turned towards Anfield where Liverpool were suffering a now-trademark three-goal thrashing.

To get some insight into the man presiding over Liverpool’s worst run of defeats in more than 70 years, we welcome Mikos Gouka, journalist with Algemeene Dagblad and author of the recently released Arne Slot: The New Era.

How did last night’s thrashing look from the Dutch perspective? Has Slot ever faced a situation like this before? Has he succeeded in communicating his personality in the English context? And is his vision of football lacking some of the essential blood’n’guts elements?

And as AZ Alkmaar prepare to play Shelbourne this evening, just how much does the Netherlands respect Troy Parrott, our saviour who (currently) dwells among them?
