On Monday December 8th 2025 a new clip was born unto the football world; ”Well a couple of weeks ago you said his legs had gone”.

It’s got the potential to be this generation’s ‘‘You’ve jumped over the fence baby” or ‘‘I’ll tell you who wrote it”.

From angry pundits to calm coaches, today we discuss the latest twists in the Salah-com.

Daniel Rensch is co-founder of Chess.com, a billion dollar company and one of the pillars of the game worldwide, and ‘the guy who does the chess stuff at the chess company’. He’s also a former child prodigy who never quite realised his potential and, growing disillusioned, turned his back on competition.

That description, though, doesn’t come close to describing his life so far or the childhood that shaped it. Danny joins us today to speak about his brilliant new memoir, Dark Squares, and how chess came to dominate the days and nights of his youth and beyond.
