Episode 3521: CL QFs 1: Different Grades of Opium
Last night confronted football fans with the trilemma: Sporting-Arsenal, Real Madrid-Bayern, or WW3-brinksmanship-content? The opium of the people comes in a few varieties.

After discussing the provisionally-postponed end of an entire civilisation, we turn to Madrid v Bayern. Is Vincent Kompany leading this season’s version of last-season-PSG, or does the obvious defensive instability mean Bayern are closer to last-season-Barca? Philipp Lahm seems unimpressed but it’s not like this guy is right about everything.

Miguel Delaney joins us from Lisbon to report on the radically different kind of game he watched at the Alvalade, on a night when David Raya gave Mikel Arteta a lot to be happy about and maybe also some reasons for regret. The Arsenal coach deserves credit for how he has found edges for his side, but in the end, can Arsenal’s patient and methodical style tame the wild horses of the likes of Bayern and PSG?
