Northern Ireland have named Céadach O’Neill in their squad for the forthcoming Nations League games. We had discussed the FAI’s hopes of persuading Arsenal’s highly-rated 18-year old to declare for Ireland in a recent pod – but does this news end the speculation over his international future?

We put that question to FAI Director of Football John Martin, who joins us in studio today.

John also talks about Michael Noonan’s recently announced move to Nottingham Forest on a free transfer, which sounds like a setback for Irish football in an economic context where the sale of young players is an important revenue stream.

John told a media briefing yesterday that he would rather Ireland did not have to play the two games against Israel in the coming weeks. We discuss why he feels that way, and how it came to be that the games will indeed be played.
