It’s been seven months and two weeks since Ireland were drawn to play Israel in the Nations League. Enough time, you might have thought, to get ready for what was coming.

Even those of us who were expecting the unexpected were blindsided by the chaos and acrimony that unfolded today in Debrecen.

As it stands the game is still on for tomorrow night, but the team is without Gavin Bazunu, who has pulled out, and evidently fractured after an hours-long team meeting that eventually produced a majority vote to go ahead with the match.

Ken joins us from Hungary to talk about Irish football’s bitterest day since Saipan.
