Episode 3343: Andy Lee And Paddy Donovan On Their Upcoming World Title Fight In Windsor Park
Last March Paddy Donovan went up to the SSE Arena in Belfast to take on home-town boy and heavy favourite Lewis Crocker, but having comprehensively out-boxed Crocker, he ran foul of the referee and was disqualified for throwing a punch after the bell.

The rematch was mandated, and they go at it again next Saturday 13th September, this time in Windsor Park – but there’s a world title on the line, the vacant IBF welterweight title, and this is the first time two Irish fighters have ever fought each other for a world title!

We went out to Ballybrack Boxing Club this morning and chatted to Paddy and his long-time coach (and former world champ and friend of the show) Andy Lee, with former (and future) world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker working out in the background.

Paddy talks about dealing with his elevated status in the sport, facing a hostile atmosphere in Belfast and how Andy saw Paddy’s true potential before he did. Andy gives us a feel for their gameplan and tells us why the words of Emmanuel Steward about the Irish colours being lowered time and again don’t apply to his fighter.

Plus there’s the quotes that shook the world, Frances’ TV Guide and Eoin’s foot of shame.
The special guest at our live show in London on Wednesday September 24th will be Arsenal legend and one of our favourite people in football, Ian Wright. Last batch of tickets available at https://www.secondcaptains.com/live-events/
