Episode 795: Wilt The Stilt, Mourinho Shower Scene, Murph’s Country Pages, Ken Burley Rises
Wilt the Stilt Chamberlain is one of the most compelling characters in world sport. And yesterday was the anniversary of one of the most outrageous scoring feats in any sport in the world – the day, in 1962, when he scored 100 points in a single NBA game.
We speak to Sports Illustrated legend Jack McCallum about that extraordinary feat, and the colourful life that followed.
Today is also a day of returns. Murph’s Country Pages was retired, unloved and unmourned, 4 years ago – but absence makes the heart grow fonder (or less reliable), and so it returns, most likely for the last time. And with two seismic Ireland-Wales games coming up, it is inevitable that calls for Ken Burley be heard. Could it, too, be resurrected?
Plus there’s Mourinho’s latest shower scene, Conan The Destroyer, Ken Barlow’s numbers game, and Dunphy the Fly.
