Tom Humphries, the former Irish Times sports journalist, was today jailed for 2 and a half years for child sex offences. Órla Ryan of TheJournal.ie was in court and we get a brief description from her of the proceedings today.

We discuss the nature of character references, the damage done to David Walsh and Donal Óg Cusack’s standing in light of their letters of support regarding Humphries, and the damage letters like that do to the victim.

The World Series starts tonight, and we set the scene with US Murph – his hatred for the LA Dodgers, and the tiny little fella who is the Houston Astros’ best player.

Plus there’s the return of Administrator of the Week, our have-a-go travel writer heroes, and the most humiliating play in baseball history.
