Ireland start their November series with a game against Italy in Chicago tomorrow, a place with nothing but good memories for Irish rugby. We’ve named our team, and when Joey Carbery is the experienced elder statesman of our back-line, it gives an indication of how exciting the lineup is.

Former Munster and Pau back-rower James Coughlan joins us to talk about how excited he is by Tadhg Beirne, and how hard it is to balance your ambition to make a big splash, and doing the rather more prosaic things that Joe Schmidt wants you to do.

US Murph lost one of his all-time idols this week – Willie McCovey was a home run machine for the brand-new San Francisco Giants for three decades, who died aged 80 on Friday. Brian paints us a beautiful picture of his life, and reflects on this year’s baseball World Series too.

Plus there’s Joey Carbery – Chicago Bulls’ number 1 fan, foam fingers, and look-alikeys on podcasts.
