As the week comes to a close, we reflect on the passing of Gay Byrne with Murph’s mammy, who also gives us her views on modern-day celebrity, the Civil Service in the 1970s and who’ll win the City/Liverpool game.

But our main piece today is on the death spiral of Deadspin, a liberal-leaning sports website in the US that saw it’s entire editorial and writing staff walk out and quit their jobs last week.

Former Deadspin writer Laura Wagner, who we’ve spoken to before on the show, played a lead role in highlighting the corrosive impact of private equity in the company, and she joins us on the show today to talk about the future of sports journalism and media in general in America.

Plus there’s calling out your boss in public, Ken quotes CLR James, Mark’s top secret project of forbidden mystery, and “Report On Sport!”
