Liverpool endured a tough night in Madrid last night, as they fell 3-1 behind to Real after the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

We talk to Jonathan Wilson and Rory Smith of the New York Times about Klopp’s errors, Real’s quality… and the feeding frenzy around Trent Alexander-Arnold ever since Gareth Southgate left him out of the England squad.

There’s also Toni Kroos’ quality, which had Declan Rice purring with delight, Dortmund’s fury as they’re denied a perfectly legitimate goal in Manchester, and the perks and perils of double-screening.
