The Ireland women’s rugby team had won 14 of their last 15 meetings with Scotland and won the 6N title as recently as 2015, so to lose to Spain and Scotland and not even make it to the World Cup is a dramatic fall off in form and results.

We talk to current Dublin GAA star and recently retired Ireland 15’s and 7’s international Hannah Tyrell, and Alison Miller, who scored that iconic winning try against NZ in the 2014 World Cup, about the basic errors made on the pitch and why many of them come down to errors made at strategic level by the IRFU. We ask about the quick fixes – no rats in the changing room area – and the long term issues with playing numbers, 7’s V 15’s and the starting the game at a young age. Have the GAA got the right template, and do the IRFU care enough to change their approach?

It was another wild night in the Champions League with Messi getting off the mark in magical style for his new club, a goal so good even Ederson knew better than to get in the way. And we got to see a man not good enough to make the Luxembourg team from the Aviva get the winner in the Bernabeu.
