Manchester United welcomed an interim coach to see them through to the arrival of their interim coach last night, and Michael Carrick’s first game hadn’t even started before Paul Scholes had torched him on BT Sport. Does a 2-0 win away to Villareal mean they should give him the job for keeps?

Ireland continue their World Cup qualifying campaign tomorrow night against Slovakia, and things are looking pretty sunny so far for Vera Pauw’s side with a win over our main playoff rivals Finland already in the bag. We talk to Vera today about her team’s results, lack of excuses from here on in, her collaborative approach to management, the Dutch style, and after some high profile cases in the USA recently, how she deals with cases of abuse in women’s football.

Plus there’s cult heroes vs club legends, one trick punditry ponies and Poch’s pledges.
