Last season, in the aftermath of Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat at Anfield, Ralf Rangnick said Manchester United needed “six, seven, eight, maybe 10 new players” to rebuild a competitive team. Well, they went out and signed nine senior players for the first team, brought another one or two back on loan – and they’re on course for the quad! Rangnick: is he ever wrong?

United go back to Anfield this weekend. Today, taking our cue from Roy Keane, we talk about Declan Rice and if he is “doing enough”.

With Real Madrid hosting Barcelona in the Copa del Rey tonight, we check in with Dermot Corrigan in Madrid to talk about where things are at. How are Barcelona assessing the success of the Lever stuff, a few months down the line, and how concerned are they by this dirty little refereeing scandal? Does Dermot have any better explanation for Madrid’s bulletproof European form other than pointing to the badge? And how can one of the top players in Spanish football have become the target of a concerted hate campaign?
