A life spent immersed in three of the most important and influential folk bands of the Irish trad revival: Planxty, the Bothy Band and Moving Hearts, his interpretation of what Irish music could be, radically changed the culture.
Earlier this week we assembled upstairs in Whelan’s of Wexford Street for an afternoon of chat and music with John Francis Flynn to mark Dónal’s life and reflect on what he has left behind for future generations.
