If we’re talking to truly elite sportspeople about “The Game That Changed My Life”, you can safely assume that they’ll have a couple of options to choose from. When it comes to former Kilkenny hurling legend Jackie Tyrrell, you have 9 All-Ireland senior final wins, and All-Ireland titles at pretty much every other level of hurling too – colleges, u-21, third level, club… the list is intimidating.

So what game does he plump for in the end with us on today’s show? It was the game he finally felt like he belonged in a Kilkenny jersey, but not before putting himself through the mental wringer for the weeks beforehand, and for the 70 minutes of the game itself. His memories of the 2006 All-Ireland hurling final are a unique insight into the doubts that occur in even the most accomplished teams’ psyches.

Plus – there’s Ken on the Robert Lewandowski – Reggie Miller zone and Murph on his desire for a lack of decisiveness from the GAA.
