Back in 2005, Ben Cousins was a superstar of Australian Rules football, achieving the ultimate individual honour of winning the Brownlow Medal for fairest and best player. Late last month, Cousins was sentenced to a year in jail for stalking and drug possession, completing an astonishing fall from grace. Rohan Connolly from The Age in Melbourne talks about the cause of Cousins’ downfall, the bigger issue of drug abuse in Australian Rules Football, and how his own family has been impacted by addiction.
