It’s one of our favourite shows every year, and it’s now required listening for the gift-buyers of Ireland – it’s our Second Captains 2018 Sports Book Of The Year Show.

We talk to Malachy Clerkin of the Irish Times, and Sinead O’Carroll of The Journal about five books, any of which would be an ideal present this Christmas. The Lost Soul Of Eamon Magee has picked up a couple of high-profile awards, despite it’s troublesome and troubled main character, but it doesn’t win the big prize from us.

Among the other contenders are Andy Lee’s “Fighter”, Tiger Woods by Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyian, The Hurlers by Paul Rouse, and Tony 10 by Declan Lynch and Tony O’Reilly.

We give you the run-down on all those, give a few other honourable mentions, discuss why boxing has had more than it’s fair share of great books… and then announce our winner.
