Ever since the draw was made, we’ve been plotting Ireland’s possible route through the glass ceiling of a rugby World Cup quarter-final. Two years ago, it looked like a great draw, as South Africa floundered. Now, with former Munster head coach Rassie Erasmus in charge of things on the pitch, off the pitch, and the boardroom, they look like the second best team in the world.

South African journalist Craig Ray joins us to talk about their 16-16 draw with New Zealand in Wellington last Saturday morning, their talismanic new captain, and why Erasmus is the perfect person to have so much control over every facet of Springbok rugby.

Chinese swimmer Sun Yang has already served a 3-month drugs ban, and is currently under investigation after a member of his delegation smashed a vial of his blood after he questioned the accreditation of the testers who had taken the sample. We talk to Ken about east/west doping hypocrisy, Shayna Jack’s Instagram tears and the PED shame game. And Australian journalist Daniel Cherny brings us the view from down under.

Plus there’s Eoin’s Love Island finale, selfish swan-dives, the Kilkenny joy-stealer, and David Seaman getting lobbed.
